DexPak TaperPaks are prescription pharmaceutical products that provide a specific dosage regimen for the treatment of symptoms related to contact dermatitis and other disease states which may benefit from short term, tapered, oral corticosteroid therapy.

There are three DexPak TaperPak formats: DexPak 6 Day, DexPak 10 Day, and DexPak 13 Day. Each DexPak format contains dexamethasone, a potent oral corticosteroid which is dosed in a specific amount for a defined period of time. DexPak 6 Day is useful in treating less severe symptoms associated with disease states which may be of short duration. DexPak 10 Day and 13 Day are prescribed for moderate to severe conditions and disease states which are longer in duration. All three DexPak formats provide a sufficient initial corticosteroid dose to provide prompt relief from symptoms, a continuing sufficient dose to prevent the reoccurrence of symptoms during the course of therapy, and an appropriate systematic tapering format to help avoid the potential side effects of corticosteroid withdrawal.

DexPak TaperPaks provide a convenient twice daily dosing regimen which helps the patient take the medication specifically as prescribed. Compliance with oral corticosteroid therapy is critical toward achieving both efficacy and safety. Taken as prescribed, the patient achieves prompt and ongoing relief with minimal if any side effects symptoms.

It is important to complete DexPak therapy as prescribed to help prevent the reoccurrence of symptoms and to appropriately taper the dosage. Do Not Discontinue therapy abruptly without consulting your physician. Dosing should be appropriately tapered to help prevent side effects which may occur from rapid discontinuation of corticosteroid therapy. If you believe you are experiencing side effects, consult your physician to determine the best method to taper your therapy.
